Daily Life Continues
Life moved forward as we waited for the results, and Emily and I fell back into our familiar routines—grocery shopping, folding laundry, and chatting about the little things that filled our days. Our conversations were often punctuated by laughter, but there was a quiet weight between us, an unspoken awareness of the unknown that hung in the air.
“Do you think I might have siblings?” Emily asked more than once, her curiosity lingering in the question.
“Maybe,” I’d answer with a smile, trying to keep things light. “But remember… you already have me.”
In those simple, everyday moments, we found comfort. No matter what the DNA results might reveal, we knew one thing for sure: our bond was unbreakable—stronger than biology, stronger than fear, stronger than anything hidden in her past.
