Mishka took a deep breath and began to tell the story she had kept hidden from everyone. Her father, the sole provider for their family, had passed away suddenly when she was only 16.

She was left with a grieving mother and three younger brothers who were still very small. Her mother struggled to make ends meet by selling handmade clothes on the street for pennies.
“I made it my mission to get them out of poverty,” Mishka explained. “I send more than half of my salary home every month. It pays for my brothers’ school uniforms, their supplies, and their food.”
“I remember my parents leaving their plates empty so we could eat,” she said, her voice breaking. “As long as I live, I will never let them go hungry again. I don’t need new shoes. I need them to have a future.”
