The atmosphere inside the cabin turned clinical and cold as folded papers were rushed toward the cockpit. From her seat, Alyssa caught a terrifying glimpse of a document held by a passing attendant: her own name was circled heavily in thick, red pen. Near the cockpit door, the crew’s whispers escalated into a heated argument. Fragmented words like “mismatch” and “it can’t happen” drifted back to her, making her wonder if she was being framed or if her very identity had become a threat to the flight.
When a sour-faced attendant finally approached and barked, “Ma’am, you need to get off immediately,” Alyssa felt the accusing stares of the surrounding passengers. Taking a deep breath to mask her rising panic, she stood her ground. “All my papers are in order,” she insisted. “I’m not moving until you explain exactly what is going on.” The standoff felt like an eternity until the attendant finally knelt at eye level, her voice trembling as she admitted, “We can’t understand how you made this booking.”
